At first I thought it was obvious that David Soul, an actor and musician, would own many guitars while Hutch, a cop who plays the guitar as a fun hobby, should realistically own only one. But then I looked at how many guitars I own despite not being very good at playing them, and despite having lived in various cramped shared housing situations while owning them... maybe it's not as odd as I thought for Hutch to have as many guitars as he likes.

The average in my family is about two or three guitars each. Two electrics (one an attractive antique, but difficult to play) and a shoddy inherited acoustic for me; an acoustic-electric, a classical, and an electric bass for my mother; a left-handed acoustic and electric for my sister; an electric and a five-string bass for my brother. I only just started trying to remember how to play this week and ow my fingers.
